• Report on STC on “Environment, development and sustainability”
A one week short term course on Environment, Development and Sustanibility
had been organized from 4th July 2016 to 6th July 2016 by the Department of Humanities and Sciences, J. C. Bose University of Science & Technology, YMCA
to tell the faculties about different aspects of interactions among society, development and environment, and their implications for achieving sustainable development by encouraging knowledge sharing and cooperation between various sectors and decision makers. The major contents of STC were basic environmental issues and concerns, technology, environment and sustainability, global climate change and sustainable development, renewable energy resources and waste management. It also focused on different skills to improve the background knowledge and teaching skills of teachers to add value to their teaching.
The participants were welcomed by Prof. Raj Kumar ( Dean and Chairman) , by Dr. Renuka Gupta, by Ms. Jyoti Grover and by Dr. Sonia Bansal Assistant Professors of , Department of Humanities and Sciences. All the faculty members of the Department of Humanities and Sciences were also present during the event. Eminent speakers of the course were Dr. H N Dutta, Director-R&D of Roorkee Engineering & Management Technology Institute, Er Himmi Gupta Form NITTTR, Chandigarh, Prof. Suresh Jain , HOD of Department of Natural Sciences, TERI University, New Delhi, Prof. Sarita Sachdeva, HOD of Department of Biotechnology, Manav Rachna International University, Faridabad, Dr Sudhir Dahiya, Deputy General Manager (Environment Management) NTPC, Noida, Ms. Meena Kapahi from Manav Rachna University, Faridabad, Dr. Sujata Dash from Manav Rachna University, Faridabad, Dr Arvind Gupta, Associate Professor of YMCA University, Faridabad , Prof. VK Garg, Dean of School of Environment and Earth Sciences, Central University Punjab, Bathinda, Dr S K Puri Deputy General Manager (Synthetic & Renewable Enerrgy), IOCL, Faridabad. They gave their talks on various topics like Air Pollution, Transport and Health, Carbon Neutrality in an Education Campus, Ecological Footprint of India & Sustainable Development, Environment Management in Coal based Thermal Power Plant in India : Current scenario and future challenges, Energy and Environment Interventions for Sustainable Buildings, Solar energy Applications for Greenhouse Systems, Environmental Economics and Sustainability, Atom for peace, Energy and Environment Interventions for Sustainable Buildings, Waste management: Waste to Taste and Prospects of Renewable Energy etc.
