• Report on Expert Lecture on “Numerical Methods” Expert lecture on “ Numerical Methods” commenced successfully on 6th March, 2017. This expert lecture had been organized by the Department of Mathematics, J. C. Bose University of Science & Technology, YMCA to enhance the understanding of mathematical knowledge among post-graduate students. As the title suggests, the objective of this particular lecture was to introduce some of the numerical methods to solve various equations in mathematics whose analytic solution is difficult. It also focused on different skills to improve the background knowledge and teaching skills of teachers to add value to their teaching. This certainly helped young mathematicians to learn mathematics in an enjoyable way. The participants were welcomed by Dr. Neetu Gupta (Chairperson), Dr. Jyoti Grover formally welcomed Prof. Bani Singh, the eminent speaker for the lecture. Nearly 50 participants, who included students of post-graduation, attended the expert lecture. The resource person for this expert lecture was Dr. Bani Singh, Professor from the Department of Mathematics, IIT Roorkee. His lecture included real life as well as engineering applications of Mathematics. He explained various numerical methods to solve algebraic as well as differential equations. At the end, Prof. Bani singh answered the queries raised by the participants.
