2021-22 Value Added Course on “Vedic Mathematics”

Day1 (18/10/2021) The resource person for the very first lecture of the course was Dr. Shriram Chauthaiwale, who is a retired Lecturer from Amolakchand College, Amravati University, Maharashtra. Sir presented an introduction about Vedic Mathematics starting from the history of the Vedic Mathematics and discussed about inspiring words by Father of Vedic Maths “Jagatguru Bharti Krishan Tirthji”. Day2 (19/10/2021) In the second day of the course, there were two lectures from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. In the first lecture of Day 2, Dr. Kailash Vishwakarma talked about how to easily multiply two big numbers vertically or classwise by using different Sutras like Ekanyunena Purvena, Ekadhikena Purvena, Nikhilam Navatahcarmam Dastah. In the second session, Dr. Shriram Chauthaiwale continued his talk by describing Cross digit sum to check the answers of addition, multiplication and subtraction. Day3 (20/10/2021) In the third day, both the lectures were taken by Sh. Rakesh Bhatia, Head of Vedic Mathematics branch of Vidya Bharti. In his address to the participants, Sir discussed on the topic "Nikhilam Navtascarmam Dastah” sutra of Vedic Mathematics. He told about the importance of Vedic Mathematics in Arithmetic and Algebra along with real life application in detail. Also he discussed about the Vinculum numbers and their applications in sum of products, difference of products, sum and difference of products in Arithmetic and Algebra, difference of squared numbers, sum and difference of squared numbers etc. He tried to motivate participants to use Vedic mathematics in daily needs. Day4 (21/10/2021) In the sixth and seventh lectures of the course, Sh. Rakesh Bhatia described about the Duplex method used in Arithmetic and Algebra. He also told how to calculate sum of squared numbers by using Sutras of Vedic Mathematics easily. He explained the topic with lots of examples. Day5 (22/10/2021) In the first session of fifth day, Dr. Dinesh Madam discussed about Journey of Ancient Mathematics in detail. In the second session, Dr. Ashish Arora talked about Divisibility by denominator ending digits 1, 3, 7 and 9. He also explained about Division by Sutras - Paravartya, and Ekadhikena. Day6 (23/10/2021) The resource person for the sixth day was Dr. Kailash Vishwakarma. He is the Head of the Physics Department of BNPG College, Rath Hamirpur, Utter Pradesh, India. In his lectures, he discussed about finding cube root of Perfect Cube by Vilokanam method. He also told how to find square root of perfect square by this method. He has also explained method to find the square root of any number. In the second lecture of the morning session, he introduced the concept of Baudhaya number. He told about its applications in Geometry. In the evening session, Dr. Anuradha Gupta was the resource person for both the lectures. The topic of the first session was Division by Vinaculum method. Nikalam of numbers was calculated to make the division simplified and to reduce the computation time. Several examples were taken to demonstrate the method. In the second session, ‘Parvartya’ method was discussed to carry out the division of numbers. In this method, the divisor is modified. For faster calculations, ‘Viniculum’ of both divisor and dividend are taken. Also, division of a polynomial by another polynomial was discussed. Examples were taken to elaborate the application of the method. The doubts of the participants were also cleared time to time.
