Math Fest Jan 2023
The Department of Mathematics of JC Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad organized a two-day event to mark the celebration of National Mathematics Day. The event is sponsored by Haryana State Council for Science, Innovation, and Technology.
Dr C.B. Gupta, Professor at NorthCap University, Gurgaon was the guest of honour at the event. The program was presided over by Vice Chancellor Prof. Sushil Kumar Tomar. Speaking on this occasion, Dr. Gupta discussed the applications of Mathematics in daily life. Prof. Tomar advised the students to correlate the events of daily life with Mathematics. He said that it is the number that connects us to the whole world. The program was convened by Prof. Neetu Gupta, Dean of Sciences.
A one-day seminar on 'Contemporary Mathematics' was also organized on this occasion. In the seminar, IIT Delhi Prof. Maithili Sharan was the chief guest and discussed about the usefulness of mathematics in various fields. The guest of the honour in the session was Prof. BK Das from Delhi University and described mathematics the mother of all technology. In the session, Prof. Dinesh Khurana and Prof. Kalpana Dahiya from Punjab University were the keynote speakers.
Events like Rangoli Making, Mathematical Model Presentation, and Quiz Competitions were also organized on this occasion. As many as 66 teams, each team consisting of two students, participated in the events. The participants are from DAV College Faridabad, Aggarwal College Ballabhgarh, IB PG College Panipat, Sarawati College Palwal, CRM Jat College Hisar, Govt. College Nacholi, Pt. JLN Govt College Faridabad and different teaching departments of the University.
In the Rangoli competition, Suchismita and Sakshi from Govt. Girl College Nacholi won the first prize. Sakshi and Preeti from the Mathematics Department of JC Bose University bagged second position, and Tarana and Manisha from Saraswati College Palwal remained in third place.
In the Mathematical Model Presentation, IB PG College, Panipat won the first prize. The second position was obtained by Aggarwal College, Ballabhgarh, and Pt. JLN. College, Faridabad remained in third place.
In the quiz competition, Dhruv and Rinki of the Mathematics Department of JC Bose University got the first prize. Shakti and Divya of IB PG College Panipat stood second, and Jatin and Shivansh of JC Bose University secured the third position. The Program was coordinated by Dr. Arpita Chatterjee and Abhishek.
