2022-23 National Science Day celebrated on February 28, 2023

JC Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad today organized a series of activities on the occasion of National Science Day which is celebrated on February 28 to mark the discovery of Raman Effect by Indian Physicist Sir CV Raman. The program was convened by the Faculty of Sciences and sponsored by Haryana State Council for Science, Innovation and Technology. The theme of the National Science Day-2023 is 'Global Science for Global Wellbeing' that reflects the importance of Science in addressing global issues and promoting wellbeing world-wide. The program was inaugurated by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sushil Kumar Tomar by lighting the traditional lamp followed by welcome address by the Dean Sciences Prof. Neetu Gupta. She detailed about the program and spoke about the theme of the event. She highlighted the achievements of Faculty of Sciences. Prof. R.K. Moudgil, Department of Physics, Kurukshetra University, Kurushetra and Prof. K.K. Bhasin, Emeritus Scientist, Department of Chemistry, Panjab University, Chandigarh were eminent experts during the event. Addressing the program, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Tomar paid tribute to the great Indian Scientist Sir CV Raman and highlighted the contribution of his contemporary scientists of the 18th century including Indian homeopath Dr. Mahendra Lal Sarkar who established Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science (IACS). He encouraged the students to serve the cause of science and research in country with dedication. In his expert lecture, Prof. R.K. Moudgil credited Sir CV Raman for the growth of science in India. He discussed the life history of Sir CV Raman and his various discoveries. He urged the students to take inspiration from the life of great Indian Scientists and do their best with the available resources. In the second expert lecture, Dr. K.K. Bhasin addressed the students and motivated them for experimental science. He urged the students to become curious about science. During the program, Poster Making competition and Scientific Model Exhibition were also organized for students. As many as 45 teams in poster making competition and 20 teams in Scientific Model exhibition participated in the event. In the Poster Making competition, Komal of MA English won the first prize. Deepak and Prashant of M.Sc. Physics stood second and Karishma, M.Sc. Maths won the third prize. Similarly, in the Model Exhibition, a team of five members namely Ankita, Sonia, Ashutosh and Anjali won the first position. A team of three members namely Renu, Gargeyee and Preeti stood second and team of two members namely Pushkar and Manish won the third prize. At the end of the program, Dr. Anuradha Sharma, Chairperson of Physics proposed the formal vote of thanks. Dean Sciences Prof. Neetu Gupta congratulated the faculty of Sciences on the success of the event.
