NPTEL-WORKSHOP

In order to create awareness about Digital Learning through MOOCs, J.C. Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad organized a National Level Workshop on National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) in association with NPTEL unit of IIT Madras. The workshop was funded by NPTEL, IIT Madras. The workshop was coordinated by Digital India Cell of the University in collaboration with Department of Computer Engineering. The objective of the workshop was to create awareness among faculty members of the University and other academic institutions about NPTEL Programme and MOOC Courses. The workshop was attended by more than 200 participants from various educational institutions across the country. The workshop was formally inaugurated by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dinesh Kumar who was the chief guest in the inaugural session. Registrar Dr. Sunil Garg, Deans and Chairpersons of different departments and members of Digital India Cell were also present on this occasion. Speaking on this occasion, Vice-Chancellor stressed the importance of online courses. He asked the students and faculty members to take interest in NPTEL Courses and other courses being run on the SWAYAM Platform. He extended best wishes for success of workshop. Dean, Faculty of Informatics and Computing and Chairperson of Computer Engineering Department Dr. Komal Kumar Bhatia welcomed the chief guest and resource persons with plant saplings. Nodal Officer of Digital India Dr. Neelam Duhan welcomed the participants. She talked about the broad objectives of workshop and highlighted various digital initiatives undertaken by the University. NPTEL Coordinator from IIT Madras Prof. Prathap Haridoss, and Senior Project Manager NPTEL Ms. Bharthi Balaji were the resource persons in the workshop. Mr. Ajay Kanojia and Ms. Vaishali from technical team of IIT kanpur were also present during the workshop. Prof. Haridoss addressed the participants though video conferencing and talked about various NPTEL initiatives and polices followed by NPTEL for MOOCs. Ms. Bharathi talked about NPTEL contents and various statistics. She focused on courses which were of particular interest to the Engineering and Science faculty. She apprised the participants about the key features of NPTEL courses and SWAYAM-NPTEL Local Chapter. The process of establishment of local chapter was also discussed in the workshop. It may be noted that the University is an active local chapter on SWAYAM-NPTEL since 2017 and has sustained its position among the top 100 local chapters in the country in the last four semesters. The University is graded AAA by NPTEL two times for being among top 10 local chapters among 4000 local chapters of the country. The workshop concluded with full enthusiasm and questionnaire session with the participants. Dr. Anuradha, Coordinator, Digital India Cell summarized the workshop and presented the vote of thanks.
