The University Computer Centre and Digital Affairs Cell hosted its annual techno-digital fest, DIGI FIESTA 2K21: The Essence of Virtual World, from July 30, 2021 to August 5, 2021. The purpose of Digi-Fiesta 2K21 is to provide a platform for young brains to showcase their innovative ideas; and at the same time compete and learn with their peers. It will enhance the technical, interpersonal and communication skills of students. More than 6000 participants from more than 100 institutions covering more than 10 states of the country are participating enthusiastically in different events of the fest. Fest was inaugurated with full enthusiasm in the presence of Chief Guest of the programme- Dr. Omkar Rai, Director General - Software Technology Parks of India (STPI), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Govt. of India, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of the University- Prof. Dinesh Kumar, Registrar- Dr. Sunil Kumar Garg, Program Advisors- Sh. V. N. Jatwani, Director DigiTech Services, Prof. Komal Kumar Bhatia, Dean- faculty of Informatics and Computing, and Prof. Atul Mishra, Dean- Faculty of Liberal Arts and Media Studies, Dr. Neelam Duhan, Director- University Computer Centre and Digital Affairs, Deans & Chairpersons of different departments, faculty members, students and participants from different institutions. Dr. Omkar Rai, Hon’ble Director General – STPI, MeitY, Govt. of India graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Dr. Rai raised the curtain of the fest along with Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dinesh Kumar and announced the opening of the week-long fest. Dr. Rai congratulated the university for organizing a fest having ingredients of creativity, ideations and innovations. He said that organizing the technical events like celebrations increase the creativity of participants. Dr. Omkar Rai's speech energized and inspired the audience to work hard and think creatively in order to create the country digitally and technologically enabled. He appreciated the entrepreneurial efforts made by young minds of India during the COVID trauma and also apprised the audience with digital initiatives of the government like secured biometric system, BHIM app, DBT, GSTN, e-market etc. To improve our country's progress, we must all work toward the adaptation of innovative thinking and ways, he continued. He was especially impressed by the digital initiatives taken up by the University amid this pandemic for the smooth conduct of teaching learning process. Dr. Omkar Rai also added that he would certainly be happy to have academic collaborations with the University in future. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dinesh Kumar spoke on the occasion and congratulated the team of University Computer Centre and Digital Affairs for their strenuous efforts in organising the festival in the midst of the epidemic. He believes that events like these provide participants with the opportunity to learn more digital ways for dealing with Pandemic-like scenarios. Events like this strengthen the belief that students possess enormous talent and intellectual acumen, and that they will shape the future of the digital world, he added. He applauded the coordinators and participants, for their remarkable performance. He also appreciated the efforts put in by the student organizers to collect such an overwhelming response of participation nation-wide. The inauguration ceremony was conducted in online mode and started with lightening the lamp of knowledge and wisdom followed by welcome address and introduction of fest by Dr. Neelam Duhan, Director- University Computer Centre and Digital Affairs. A documentary was presented to showcase Digital Initiatives taken in the university and events conducted by UCC&DA. She apprised about the future plans of the cell to make the offices paperless and establishing lecture capturing facility in the university. She added that working in line with the direction of Digital India campaign of hon’ble Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi, Digital Affairs Cell of the University is regularly conducting Digital India Events and working as a link between Govt. initiatives and the University. She added that the pandemic has forced us to think digitally and the student coordinators of the cell have come up with this techno-digital fest in the full online mode with a bouquet of multiple events and competitions running in parallel. Registrar, Dr Sunil Kumar Garg, addressed the audience and appreciated the digital initiatives taken by University Computer Centre and Digital Affairs such as in-house Digital Learning Management System, e-learning facility through IIRS ISRO and Swayam Prabha, SWAYAM and NPTEL Local Chapter, Digital Classrooms, COVID helpdesk and NAD. In his address he added that such kind of events can help students come out of the mental stress and boredom created due to pandemic. The closing cum prize distribution ceremony was presided over by hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dinesh Kumar. Ms. Bhakti Sharma, Sarpanch (Barkhedi Abdullah, Madhya Pradesh) and Mr. Chirag Dahiya, Singer & Music Producer and Alumnus of J. C. Bose University of Science and Technology YMCA, graced the occasion as guests of honour along with worthy registrar Dr. Sunil Kumar Garg, Prof. Sandeep Grover- Dean Quality Assurance, Dr. Neelam Duhan- Director University Computer Centre & Digital Affairs, Program Advisors- Sh V. N. Jatwani, Director- Digitech Services Pvt. Ltd, Prof. Komal Kumar Bhatia, Dean- Faculty of Informatics and Computing, Prof. Atul Mishra, Dean- Faculty of Liberal Arts and Media Studies, faculty & student coordinators and participants. In the closing ceremony, Guest of honour Mr Chirag Dahiya, a rising singer and Music Producer, mesmerized the audience with his live performance. He also appreciated the efforts put in by the students in organizing fest of this grand level. Guest of Honour, Ms Bhakti Sharma, a young sarpanch and motivational speaker addressed the audience with motivational thoughts and her real-life inspirations. Valuing our roots, she believes in nurturing the age old culture of the village, along with development and rural advancement. She urged the students to come up with their skills to move the nation towards digitization. Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dinesh Kumar welcomed the Guests of Honour and eminent personalities. He appreciated all the participants and congratulated the winners. He appreciated all the efforts done by the University Computer Centre and Digital Affairs including vibrant student coordinators and faculty coordinators and suggested that such events should be organized regularly to bring out and showcase the hidden talent of students. He also emphasized the importance of digital initiatives taken up by government for the masses. He further added that each and every individual can play a significant role for the advancement of the nation. Dr. Neelam Duhan, Director, University Computer Centre and Digital Affairs presented the closure report of the fest with detailed figures and apprised that the fest got registrations from over 150 schools and colleges. Talking about individual participations, she said that fest got 596 participations in Connexions: A referral program that assesses participant's social engagement/public outreach; 751 participations in Concept to Code-XI: A competitive programming contest; 694 participations in Compute it out 2.0: An algorithm based interactive quiz; 568 participations in Calculytics: A data analysis workshop and competition; 150 participations in Contestation: A conventional debate competition based on technical topics; 586 participations in Chaturanga: An online Chess tournament, 457 participations in Clash On: A BGMI gaming tournament; 697 participations in Cognizance Check: An aptitude based quiz; 534 participations in Commercial Composition: An event where participants have to advertise a product through their art. She appreciated students for having shown their interests amid this pandemic and to come up with their talents on this platform. Student Coordinators Ms Bharti and Mr Nishant, announced the names of the prize winners of respective competitions. Ceremony was started with welcome address by Dr. Deepika Punj and concluded with formal vote of thanks by Dr Rewa Sharma, the faculty coordinators of the cell. The valedictory cum Prize Distribution Ceremony was well coordinated by Dr Deepika Punj, Dr Lalit Goyal and Dr Rewa Sharma. The student coordinators Praveen, Sumant, Shraddha, Priyal, Hardik, Harsh, Priyan, Nishant, Bharti, Satvik, Vivek, Anurag, Shruti, Geetika, Jatin, Sameep, Shreya, Prajwal and Rishabh Kaushik deserve a huge round of applause for smooth management of the fest. Entire fest was quite thrilling, fun filled and full of learning for students. The University became the proud host of huge number of participants from various states. In Calculytics - A data analysis workshop and competition; First prize was awarded to Bhavye from JCBoseUST, second prize was bagged by Aditya from United College of Engineering and the third prize was secured by Neesham from JCBoseUST. In Connexions- a referral programme; Chirag from JCBoseUST secured the first position, Jatin from JCBOSEUST bagged the second prize and Manav from JCBoseUST got third prize. In Concept to code - A competitive programming contest; Anshul from IIT Dhanbad won the first prize, Devashish from JCBoseUST bagged second prize and Sitanshu from NIT Warangal secured the third prize. In Contestation - A conventional debate competition based on technical topics; Best team was awarded to - Nitiksha tyagi and Khyati pareek from Daulat Ram College ,Best speaker was awarded to Yogeshwar Singh from Mithibai College and Best interjector was awarded to Neha from Shivaji College. In Commercial Composition - An event where participants have to advertise a product through their art; First prize was awarded to Shubham Kumar, Second prize was bagged by Aryan Gupta and Nikita Jain got the third prize. In Cognizance check - An aptitude based quiz; Abhinav from JCBoseUST was awarded with the first prize, Anurag from JCBoseUST won the second prize and Bhavye goel from JCBoseUST got the third prize. In Clash-On - A BGMI gaming tournament; First prize was awarded to the team ‘Black listed’ lead by Shivam Mudgil from Asian School of Business. Second was bagged by the team Hunk Esports lead by Yash Gupta from Sagar Institute of Research & Technology and team Mythians lead by Sachin from DAV got the third prize. In Cryptic Hunt - Neeraj Kumar from JCBoseUST bagged the first position, Yana from JCBoseUST won the second position and, Harshita Jain from NIT Hamirpur secured the third position. In Chaturanga - An online Chess tournament; Chirag from JCBoseUST secured the first position, Jatin won the second position and Yash magoo from JCBoseUST was awarded the third position. In Compute it Out 2.0 - An algorithm based interactive quiz; first prize was awarded to Uday Mann from Shri Guru Govind Singh College of Commerce, Second prize was secured by Anurag from JCBoseUST and third position was bagged by Manav from JCBoseUST. Participation certificates were given to all the participants who put their best efforts in the competitions and made the event a grand success.
