J.C. Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad, in assistance with Haryana State Council for Science and Technology, today organized a national seminar on ‘Technological Advancements for Sustainable Development’ to mark the ‘National Technology Day’ which is celebrated every year on May 11 to commemorate the history of India's technological innovations and excellence. The session was attended by more than 500 participants all around the country. The seminar was part of the two-day event being organized by the Department of Computer Engineering & UCC&DA. Prof. Lalit Awasthi, Director, B. R. Ambedkar National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar and Dr. Prabhat Manocha, Director, Government Industry, India/South Asia-IBM were keynote speakers in this seminar. The session was presided over by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dinesh Kumar. In the first technical session, Director BRANIT, Jalandhar Prof. Lalit Awasthi presented a talk on ‘Trends and Technologies’ and gave an insight of latest technologies in the area of Computer Engineering. In the second session, Director, IBM Dr. Prabhat Manocha spoke about the societal approach in technological advancement. Dr. Duhan also apprised that the two-day event comprises technical competitions for students which will be conducted online on 14th May for students. The winners of these competitions will be rewarded with cash prizes and e-Certificates will be given to all the participants. The session was well coordinated by Dr. Jyoti, Dr. Deepika, Dr, Rewa, Dr. Lalit and Mr. Piyush along with student coordinators The valedictory ceremony was graced by Chief Guest- Sh. Anand Mohan Sharan, Principal Secretary-Technical Education and Principal Secretary- Higher Education, Government of Haryana. Program was commenced with a welcome of the dignitaries by Dr. Komal Kumar Bhatia, Program chair and Dean - Faculty of Computing and Informatics. Dr. Neelam Duhan, Program coordinator and Director UCC and Digital affairs presented the highlights of the 2- day celebrations to the Chief Guest as well as other dignitaries. The Chief Guest of the occasion, Sh. Anand Mohan Sharan, applauded the initiatives taken under the guidance of the Vice chancellor of the University- Prof. Dinesh Kumar to help JC Bose UST become one of the premier technical universities in the country. He appreciated the students and faculty members’ efforts for launching the COVID Helpdesk, a collection of resources like plasma, hospitals, beds with oxygen supply and others that get constantly updated in real time to serve the needy in the ongoing pandemic. He gave his valuable advice to all the students to remain ‘Sadaiva Agraniye’ in serving the humanity by making use of technology. He also mentioned that it is the job of engineers to take the technology and research to the doorstep of general masses. He also applauded University’s efforts to be a pioneer in the state in developing a pure in-house Digital Learning management System with special mention to Vice Chancellor Prof. Dinesh Kumar’s Vision in saving public money to streamline the teaching and learning process. He later announced the winners of the various student events and guided students to take up science and technology as their research areas. The winners of these competitions were rewarded with cash prizes and e-Certificates were given to all the participants.
