Introduction
The revolutionary advancement in digital technologies has necessitated the dissemination of these technologies to society and also their adoption for modern education. The University has set up a University Computer Centre and Digital Affairs Cell (UCCDA) to manage digitization, IT resources, and networking. Established in 2019 by combining the IT Cell (2017) and the Digital Cell (2015), UCCDA serves as a centralized resource facilitator for computerization, catering to students, research scholars, faculty, and staff. Its objectives also include automation of administrative and secretarial processes within the University.
The Cell works towards progressing the University into a digital ecosystem by managing ICT infrastructure and conducting workshops and events on digital payment missions, DigiLocker, MOOCs, digital literacy, consumer services, and technical fests. It has implemented initiatives such as the National Academic Depository, Academic Bank of Credits (ABC), SWAYAM Prabha, credit transfer via SWAYAM MOOCs, digital classrooms, digital notice boards, and lecture capturing. Additionally, the Cell developed the University's online admission portal for various courses.
Objectives of the Cell
- Strengthen ICT infrastructure including Wi-Fi and wired connectivity
- Support automation of data processing works of the University
- Act as an advisory unit on procurement, usage, and maintenance of computing & network equipment
- Review and monitor current use of digital resources
- Suggest ways and initiatives to improve utilization of digital resources
- Develop infrastructure for training programmes on digital technologies and applications
- Promote R&D on emerging digital technologies in the University
- Enhance digital learning using Govt. platforms like SWAYAM-NPTEL
- Promote paperless working and cashless transactions
- Implement schemes/facilities provided by UGC/AICTE/other Govt. bodies
- Ensure online availability of relevant information through University website
- Provide training and support on software procured or developed in-house
- Spread awareness and implement Govt. of India digital initiatives for smooth daily activities
