Overview of the Department
Overview of the Department
Established
in 2018, the Department of Environmental Sciences at J.C. Bose University of
Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad, emerged from its earlier affiliation
with the Department of Humanities and Sciences. The department began by
offering M.Sc. in Environmental Sciences and Ph.D. programs, which had been
functional since 2016. With growing environmental challenges and the urgent
need for skilled professionals, the department expanded its academic scope to
include Postgraduate Diploma in Waste Management and Minor Degree Programme in
Environmental Analysis and Management.
It
plays a crucial academic role by offering the mandatory Environmental Sciences
course across all undergraduate programs of the university.
Driven
by a committed, research-oriented faculty, the department has significantly
enhanced its academic offerings, research infrastructure, and laboratory
capabilities, aspiring to become a nationally recognized hub for environmental
education and sustainable innovation.

to establish a Centre for Environmental Research and Innovation for promoting
sustainable technologies and solutions.
Sustainability and Green Campus Initiatives
- Initiated the University’s “Tree
Plantation and Care” Program to enhance green cover and promote
sustainability through systematic plantation activities, geo-tagged
monitoring, and long-term care of saplings — reinforcing the university’s
commitment to environmental stewardship.
- Organization of environmental
awareness events, seminars, and community outreach through Vasundhara
Eco-Club
- Promotion of environmental
leadership through field visits, hands-on training, and participatory
learning
