PROF. (DR.) AJAY RANGA
Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Ranga is a distinguished legal academician and administrator with over two decades of experience in legal education and social justice initiatives. He is a Professor of Law at the University Institute of Legal Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh, and served as Dean at Chitkara Law School, Chitkara University, Rajpura, Punjab, before assuming the office of Registrar at J.C. Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad (Haryana) on May 23, 2025 (AN).
Prof. Ranga completed his school education at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Khunga Kothi, Jind (Haryana), India. He earned his B.A. (Law), LL.B. from the Department of Law, Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra and his LL.M. & Ph.D. from the Department of Law, Panjab University, Chandigarh. Specializing in Criminal Law and Forensic Sciences, Prof. Ranga’s academic contributions include extensive research, publications in reputed journals, and shaping legal education as a Professor of Law at Panjab University, Chandigarh, and Dean at Chitkara Law School, Chitkara University, Punjab.
He has also served as Professor of Law and officiated as Registrar, Dean and Finance Officer at Himachal Pradesh National Law University (HPNLU), Shimla, and as Director of the Centre for Criminology and Forensic Science at HPNLU, Shimla. He was a ‘Fellow’ (Senator) of Panjab University, Chandigarh, from 2013 to 2016, nominated by the Hon’ble Vice-President of India, and an elected ‘Fellow’ (Senator) of Panjab University, Chandigarh, from 2016 to 2021 through the Panjab University Teachers Constituency. His administrative expertise is evident from his prior roles as Registrar and Director, as well as his membership in key bodies such as the Senate, Syndicate, Executive and Academic Councils and Finance Committees across various institutions.
